FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What products does Power WearHouse offer?

We’ve got two families of gear, both designed to move with you, not against you. On the fitness side: our Power Weighted Vest, Power Weighted Belt, and cast-iron Power Weights to load them up. On the wellness & sensory side: our ProPower Compression Vests for adults and kids, plus PICA vests for adults and kids.

What is a compression vest?

Think of it as a wearable hug. A compression vest applies gentle, even deep-pressure across the torso — the same calming, grounding sensation occupational therapists use to help the body feel safe and settled. Ours are designed with OTs and made to be comfortable enough for real, everyday wear.

How do I choose the right size compression vest?

The goal is snug-but-never-tight — close enough to deliver that calming pressure, comfortable enough to forget you’re wearing it. Check the size guide on the product page and measure before you order, and if you’re between sizes or sizing for a child who’s growing, just email us at info@powerwearhouse.com — we’ll happily help you land the perfect fit.numquam, error, est. Ea, consequatur.

What is a compression vest for adults used for?

It’s for any adult who benefits from calming, deep-pressure input — whether you’re navigating sensory processing needs, ADHD, autism, or simply moments of overwhelm and want to feel more grounded through the day. Many people wear ours at home, at work, or on the go as a discreet, comforting reset button. (If you’re using it as part of a therapy plan, it’s always worth a chat with your OT or doctor.)

Are weighted vests suitable for home workouts?

Absolutely — that’s where they shine! No equipment, no gym membership, no problem. Slip one on for bodyweight circuits, stairs, or even tidying up around the house, and you’ll add resistance to movement you’re already doing. It’s the easiest way to make “home workout” actually count.

Does walking with a weighted vest burn more calories?

It sure does! Adding weight means your body works harder to carry you the same distance — so the walk you already take turns into a bigger calorie burn and a better strength-and-cardio session, no extra time required. Even a pound or two makes a difference.

What is the difference between a weighted vest and a weighted belt?

Both add resistance — they just do it in different places. The vest spreads weight evenly across your torso, which is great for posture, core engagement, bone health, and full-body training. The belt sits around your waist and hips, keeping the load lower and your upper body free — ideal if you want resistance without anything on your shoulders. Choose by your goal and what feels best on your body (or grab both!).

What are the benefits of adding resistance to daily walks?

More from the same effort, basically. A little added weight on your walk can boost calorie burn, support bone density, build strength, and challenge your cardio — all without changing your routine or carving out extra time. It’s everyday movement, leveled up.

Which weighted vest is best for beginners?

Our Power Weighted Vest is beginner-friendly by design — soft, comfortable, and easy to wear through ordinary daily life. The trick is to start light (around 2% of your bodyweight) and build gradually as it starts to feel easy. You’ll feel the difference fast without overdoing it. And if you ever have health questions, check with your doctor first.

What is a PICA vest used for?

Our PICA vests are designed to support kids and adults who experience PICA (the urge to mouth, chew, or ingest non-food items). They combine that calming deep-pressure comfort with a thoughtful, durable design meant to help redirect those behaviors and keep the wearer comfortable and secure. They work best as part of a care plan, so we always recommend partnering with your OT or care team — and we’re here to help however we can.
